The Salvation Army is a Christian Church that is well known for putting its faith into action both in the UK and overseas.
If you live in Worksop or Retford, you may have seen the Brass Band playing in the town centre during the summer or at Christmas collecting for their activities within the community.
The band takes part in the Worship during the Sunday service at Newcastle Avenue, Worksop at 10.30am and most Saturdays from 11.00am at the Dukeries Garden Centre, Welbeck, as well as at other venues throughout the year.
Music is an important part of worship in the Salvation Army, be it in the Songsters (choir) or in the band. The Salvation Army in Worksop is offering the chance to join their band practices on a Wednesday evening, where you can go along and play some of the beautiful music that is unique to the Salvation Army.
Practice is a light-hearted get together with no pressure; all they ask is that you want to play and enjoy music. Players are of mixed abilities so, no matter your skill level, you will fit in.
Practices are on Wednesdays at 7.30pm to 9.00pm in the Hall on Newcastle Avenue, Worksop S80 1ET. If you would like to sing with the Songster Group, they practice before the band at 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
This is an opportunity that hasn’t been available in the past but is now part of the openness that is extended to all to come and play some unique beautiful music.
If you would like to just go and listen to either the choir or the band you would be most welcome. The doors will be open; just pop in and enjoy!
