The National Trust protects and cares for places so people and nature can thrive. As the largest conservation charity in Europe, they look after hundreds of houses and close to a million objects, along with vast areas of coastline, countryside and green spaces, for everyone’s benefit.
In North Nottinghamshire, at Clumber Park and Mr Straw’s House, volunteers are already active in their teams but there is huge potential for more volunteer involvement. The last two years have been strange and often challenging for many of us, and during this time, volunteers have provided crucial support and have been vital in helping The National Trust continue to welcome visitors safely.
During National Volunteer Week from 1st to 7th June, they will not only be recognising and celebrating the achievements of their incredible people, but they will start to search and recruit for new volunteers from our local communities. Whether you are looking to make new friends or to enhance your CV, volunteering is a great opportunity to make a real difference.
Locally, The National Trust have a range of opportunities and volunteer roles available in the following areas:
Activity and Experience volunteering:
Join the Programming and Partnerships team, supporting visitors of all ages to explore and discover the magic of the beautiful Clumber Park.
Business Services volunteering: Are you organised, computer literate with great communication skills? Can you work across teams and independently? The business services team will be expanding over the summer.
Central Bark Dog Walk volunteering:
Are you passionate about our four-legged friends? Central Bark is a destination for many visitors and their dogs, and they need assistance with the popular dog walking programme in the park, every Wednesday morning.
Cycle Hub volunteering:
Are you mad about cycling? Could you help with bike maintenance, cycle hire and riding activity? They are looking for enthusiastic team players to join their hub in preparation for a busy summer holiday.
Facilities volunteering:
Are you handy at making and fixing? Can you support the incredible team in maintaining and securing their built structures.
Gardens volunteering:
They are looking for green fingered enthusiasts, with a range of experience and skills to help care for the beautiful gardens. This team is very popular so you must be able work well with others and bring lots of energy to the role.

Retail and Plant Sales volunteering:
Can you help take deliveries, move and manage stock and support the team in making their shop and garden sales inviting to visitors?
Bookshop volunteering:
Are you a fundraiser? They are looking for incredible individuals to support with the selling of donated books from their renowned second-hand bookshop. All the money raised through the shop is reinvested back into the Park.
Visitor Welcome and Service volunteering:
Can you provide service with a smile and help keep their places looking their best? Can you help with parking and directions and are you motivated to ensure visitors have the best day out possible? If so, this could be the team for you.
