Retford Textiles Group

Retford Textiles Group meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month in the evening in the back room of Grove Street Methodist Church .

They aren’t the typical traditional kind of textile group as they have a featured new activity each month. In July, members created print work, taking inspiration from nature and the rich summer bounties of July .

The aim of the group is to encourage, teach and share new skills and techniques. So if you fancy having a go at printing, dying, felting or dream of being a hooker (crochet) etc, do go along and experience something which you might pursue.

Trying something new can take you out of your comfort zone but it has also helped to create a wonderful group of friendly like-minded crafters who not only experience the frustration but a real eureka moment when a new skill is learnt or mastered.

A new programme and year starts in September so it’s a really good time of the year to join. Either on your own or with a likeminded friend, you would be most welcome. They will also be in Retford Town Hall on Retford Heritage Day on Saturday 14th September so pop in and meet some of the group’s members and view some of the types of work they undertake.

Their next meeting is on Wednesday 4th September at 6.30pm for 7.00pm, when they are delighted to have a joint venture with Bassetlaw Museum looking at some of our local Textile Collection.

Visitors are welcome or for more information call Carrie Young on 01623 863327.
