People often ask, “what is a community rail partnership?” Simply put, they are a bridge between the railway and local communities, engaging with communities to help people maximise the benefits offered by railways. They also promote social inclusion and sustainable travel. There are currently over 75 community rail partnerships in the UK.

Retford Station

The North Notts and Lincolnshire Community Rail Partnership (NNLCRP) officer team were delighted to meet with members of Friends of Retford Station and LNER staff at Retford Station to discuss ideas and plans for station improvements. It has been agreed that historical mosaics will soon be installed in the station, and a community book swap will be installed in the main concourse. They are also excited that plans for a station garden have been well received and in the new year they will be on an active volunteer drive to encourage people to get involved.
