The North Notts Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is looking forward optimistically to a new year without any post-festivity COVID spike or accompanying restrictions. One thing’s certain: there will be lots to see and do for those interested in local wildlife, including beaver walks at the Idle Valley reserve. There should be visible evidence of beaver activity and hopefully a glimpse of a real live beaver – though they are very elusive.
The group has an interesting programme too; plenty of talks lined up and some summer activities that had been arranged for last year and had to be cancelled. The Wildlife Watch group, for children aged eight to 11, is also busy. It meets every month and features a variety of nature-based activities. Some of the past year’s highlights included: seeing tiny, orphaned baby hedgehogs being reared by hand; making unusual bird feeders; hunting and identifying damsel and dragonflies and much more. If you want to know more about any of these activities, contact Jan or sign up for regular updates. The Trust looks forward to seeing you this year!
