North Leverton Windmill Family Fun Weekend

by | 1 September 2023 | Community Event, Worksop

North Leverton Windmill is 210 years old this year and they hope that you will go along to their annual Family Fun Weekend to help them to celebrate 210 years of continued milling. There is a whole host of things happening this year. It’s the 9th and 10th September, and open to the public from 12.00pm on both days. The event coincides with Bassetlaw Heritage Weekend.

The windmill, near Retford, will be milling flour so that they can make you delicious pizza and cakes, and you will also find a host of local artisan food and drink stalls. They have a great arts and craft market along with children’s entertainment and birds of prey, alpacas, yoga demonstrations, the fun dog show and a dog scurry.

On Saturday evening enjoy live music from 4.30pm with Big Wayne’s Blues Band opening, followed by DJ Jono, more live music and the ever-popular local band Propeller bringing the evening to a close.

Wheels at the Windmill is also being held both days. If it’s got wheels it is welcome…. and there is a special guest attending on both days to wish the windmill a happy birthday as The Battle of Britain Memorial Lancaster Bomber is due to fly over the Windmill on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

There is lots more information on the official North Leverton Windmill Facebook page and group.

It has been another busy year at the Windmill and they can’t believe its September again already. They continue to welcome you all whether it is to buy flour, experience the windmill and visitor centre, or just sit in the gardens, take time out and soak up the wonderful surroundings and have a chat. They are open every Saturday and other days by arrangement.

There are always things to do! And on that note, if you want to get involved they are always looking for volunteers to help out with keeping the mill and grounds open and in tip top condition for everyone to enjoy. You would be surprised at the skills they need, so don’t be shy, get in touch.

With your support and donations, they will continue to keep the windmill in good order and are looking to upgrade the facilities at the windmill in the coming year (watch out for updates).
