Muddy Fork needs you!

Do you like the fresh air? Do you like having a chat? Do you like gardening? Do you have any spare time to donate? If the answer to any of these is yes Muddy Fork would absolutely love to hear from you.

Fork is a small local charity that relies on volunteers for the sessions to run. They are on the lookout for some more volunteers to join their band of merry people. In return you will receive a warm welcome and lots of new friends. I hear the garden coordinator (who writes this piece) makes an excellent cuppa. If this is something that would interest you please contact Harri on harri.phillips@muddyfork.org or call 07421 356717.

They have had another incredibly busy month in their little garden. The seeds are germinating well in the new tunnel, the ones the mice haven’t eaten are anyway. They have been planting, watering, weeding and repeat all month. It’s been so great seeing the willow come back to life and the structures changing with the seasons. Their little stream is full of the most beautiful marsh marigolds, and it looks picture perfect with the sun shining on it, like a Monet painting come to life. They are not the only ones appreciating the warmer weather, their bees are also enjoying it. Their bee keepers are busy looking after them and the bees are busy making honey.

They have introduced a bacon sandwich day once a month (there are alternatives for vegetarian members) and it’s gone down a storm. You could smell the bacon cooking all round the reserve. They consider themselves so lucky to be based at Idle Valley. The wonderful Wildlife Trust staff are so good to the charity and are always happy to help whenever they can.
Muddy Fork are always happy to welcome visitors to the garden. Look for the robin in the corner of the car park. Or you can find more details of the gardening sessions and on how to make a referral on the Muddy Fork website, www.muddyfork.org. You can contact them via the website, or call 07421 356717 or email harri.phillips@muddyfork.org.
