Bassetlaw Action Centre is a community resource agency offering help and support to individuals and organisations throughout Bassetlaw, promoting the independence of older and vulnerable people and supporting individuals with long term conditions.
The Action Centre is working with Bassetlaw District Council and The Place Based Partnership to deliver a project issuing sun cream at the splash parks to promote staying safe in the sun.
Team members were delighted to welcome Brendan Clark Smith MP and District Councillor Sue Shaw to learn more about what Bassetlaw Action Centre does for the community. Staff were pleased to show off a fully accessible MPV and defibrillator purchased with funds from the Nottinghamshire County Council Better Care Fund. The new MPV is fully electric, which means it not only significantly reduces emissions and saves the environment, it is also a cost saving to clients and is chargeable at 45p a mile in line with the Bassetlaw Community Car Scheme.
Councillor Shaw said of the visit: “[It was] A pleasure to be invited to Bassetlaw Action Centre this morning to promote the installation of a defibrillator on site which was purchased through NCC Better Care funding applied for by Bassetlaw District Council.
“This defibrillator is yet another one for Retford town area. Congratulations to all the people involved in any fund raising to have these purchased and installed. Fantastic for the town.
Thank you to everyone involved.”
In other news, a new midweek Men Walk Talk group at Kings Park has recently launched, as well as the ones already running at the weekend at King’s Park and Idle Valley and a Women Walk Talk at King’s Park.
