Let’s get loud with Worksop Pride…

by | 28 June 2024 | Community Event, Worksop

The organisers of Worksop Pride, on Saturday 13th July, are thrilled to announce for the first time ever, to have a full road closure for the parade to walk from the Worksop Train Station, along Carlton Road, passing through Victoria Square and Watson Road junctions, onto Bridge Place / Street, and concluding the march by joining the main event on Old Market Square.

Attendees are asked to assemble at Worksop Train Station by 11.00am, wear the brightest of colours and be ‘Loud and Proud’ before the road is ‘phased’ closed for the parade. They want the full rainbow effect to be seen.

Worksop Pride’s seventh event is promising to be the biggest event in Worksop’s summer calendar – free entry, with food stalls, a market area, drinking area, free fairground rides, free face painting, free character meets, free crafting and two live entertainment stages and more.

Main Stage (12.00pm to 6.00pm) line up

No stranger to Worksop Pride, their resident host Vivian Twist is back. Emma Maezin will be giving you a taste of the rainbow before heading to host their newly-named Rainbow Stage.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Worksop Pride without Esmé Lucas performing.

Boom, Boom, Boom – it’s the return of the amazing ‘Vengaboyz” experience. And following close behind will be the fantastic Stepz experience. These are the best tributes in the business. New to the stage this year is the authentic voice of Lisa Press with her Celine Dion Tribute Show.

They were missed last year, but this year they’re back and ready to rock this party… Zebra Studios will take to the stage to perform. They will be followed by 80s tribute duo ‘Very Pet Shop Boys’. Party rock will be in the house as Little Drama Group are returning for a performance, and iconic duo a tribute to ‘Erasure’ will also be performing. Finally, headlining Main Stage this year is none other than 90s dance sensation ‘Phats and Small’, Ben Ofoedu.

Rainbow Stage (Bridge Street, 12.30pm to 3.30pm) line up

Welcoming back a fabulous host and star of ‘Queens for the Night’, Emma Maezin will be joined by musical theatre star Heidi Hodgkinson and her show tunes, along with the fabulous acoustic Hannah Marshall. Bringing a whole box of sass, they have the fabulous Moxie Mayhemm, followed by Gaurav Balli. Bringing some ‘90s vs 00s’, Rachel Lauren is set to get you up and dancing and rocking in the street and headlining the Rainbow Stage is a local Drag favourite, Ken Lambert.

The afterparty is being organised by ‘Shantay U Slay’ and will be a ticketed event at North Notts Area from 6.00pm with announced acts Emma Maezin, Moxie Mayhemm and Cherry West and headliner A’Whora from Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

Founder and event organiser Crystal Lucas said: “I’m excited by this year’s event announcements. Lots of work has gone into making it bigger and better. There are lots of things taking place on the day and the Parade announcement is a huge boost to all the efforts made to make this day inclusive. Rain or shine, it’s set to be our best event yet!”
