Inner Wheel Club of Retford

Margarette Golding founded the first Inner Wheel club in Manchester in 1884, and this year’s International Convention was held there and attended by club members from around the world.

One of Retford Inner Wheel’s members was able to meet up with a friend from India. Marion is the founder of the Pad Project, which helps ladies and girls make washable and reuseable sanitary pads – and she is going to Kerala, India, next year to help establish a Pad Project there.

Similarly, two members from Lusaka (Zambia) attending the conference are looking forward to hosting Marion when she visits Lusaka this summer (again to support and develop the Pad Project). Retford Inner Wheel Club is proud to support Marion, NPAC (National Police Aid Convoy) and the Pad Project.

On a local level, the club’s recent meeting was informative and fun. Members each brought a piece of personal memorabilia. These items included an Arabic birth certificate, very small Chinese slippers, Himsworth (Sheffield arts and crafts) jewellery, a silver filigree wedding necklace from 1836 and many more items – all with a story to tell.

Retford Inner Wheel combines friendship, fun and fundraising. If this sounds like something you might like to be involved with, the club meets at 5.30pm for 6.00pm on the second Thursday of every month at Ye Olde Bell.
