Grannie and Gertie’s Bassetlaw boundary walk

by | 11 July 2021 | Notice, Residents Association, Worksop

Grannie and Gertie, the ostrich, raised hundreds of pounds in June towards a desperately needed community car park in Cuckney, by walking around the 90 mile boundary of Bassetlaw.
Grannie lives in Cuckney and Gertie came over from South Africa when she heard that Grannie needed help. Gertie is an old Ostrich, 75, so is not as speedy as she once was, but together the wanted to do what they could to help the community group that have been trying to raise funds for three years to create a car park that will benefit local residents and keep schoolchildren safe from the busy A616 in the village.
Car parks in rural areas are not a very appealing cause to raise money for and they are unable to access district or county funding or a grant from a trust / lottery, but they need to raise £60,000 to make their plans a reality.
