The Friends of Bassetlaw Museum are delighted to announce that they have part-funded two Iron Age coins, which have recently arrived at Bassetlaw Museum. Discovered locally some time ago, the coins have undergone the process of authentication, valuation, and formal declaration as ‘treasure’. They were unveiled at the Museum on Thursday 22nd February during a ‘Finds Day’ and will soon be available for public display.

Planning for 2025 continues, with an evening event in May inviting members to bring their own treasured items, family heirlooms, or personal stories from their family’s past to share with fellow members at the Museum. Further details will be announced in due course.

The Friends have been encouraged by the strong interest in the return of Museum tours. The first tour, held on Wednesday 7th February, was fully booked, and reservations are now being taken for the upcoming tours in March and April. The March tour will take place on Thursday 6th March, while the April tour will return to its usual Friday slot on Friday 4th April. These tours are free of charge, although a suggested cash donation of £5.00 per person to the Friends is welcomed. To learn more or to book a place, email fobm.tours@gmail.com or visit the Museum, as places are limited.
