Worksop Library will kick off the new year with an exciting new fantasy-themed exhibition – with a Nottinghamshire twist! As a member of the Living Knowledge Network, Inspire is delighted to be hosting a taster of the full Fantasy: Realms of Imagination exhibition, which is currently on show at the British Library in London. Don’t miss the exhibition in Worksop Library’s gallery, free to visit from Saturday 6th January to Sunday 28th January during library opening hours.

Imagination Gaming offers oodles of fun for all the family on Saturday 20th January, 10.00am to 2.00pm. Play some of the coolest, smartest, fast witted and amusing board games from around the world, including games for all ages that are easy to pick up but hard to put down! Imagination Gaming is free and suitable for children aged five to 11 and their families. No booking is required; just drop by.

To accompany the Fantasy: Realms of Imagination exhibition, the library is also hosting a film screening of Stardust (PG), a magical fantasy adventure based on Neil Gaiman’s fantasy graphic novel.  A star-studded cast brings his vision to life in this acclaimed adaptation directed by Matthew Vaugn and starring Charlie Cox, Clare Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro, as well as featuring the song Rule the World by Take That.

Go along on Tuesday 23rd January at 6.00pm to enjoy the Big Screen experience in the comfortable setting of the library! Tickets are £2.00 and booking is advised – visit Worksop Library, call Ask Inspire on 01623 677200, or book online at www.inspireculture.org.uk.

If you’re more interested in history and facts than fantasy, there’s still time to sign up for Researching Family History: An Introduction. This six-week course starts at the library on Saturday 13th January, 10.00am to 12.00pm. It is suitable for beginners in family history. Go along to explore key family history records (where to find them and how to use them) and develop research skills to help you when tracing your own family tree.

The course costs £36.00 (or may be free if you are in receipt of certain benefits). For more information, and to book a place, visit www.inspireculture.org.uk/familyhistorycourse, call Ask Inspire on 01623 677200 or email learning@inspireculture.org.uk.
