Community Champions are celebrated

Bassetlaw people who have gone out of their way to make a difference for other tenants and residents, and in their neighbourhoods, have been recognised as Community Champions.
Malcolm Pike, Stan Davis, Mick Langley, and Nina Thiedeman were all nominated by their peers for giving up their time to help other tenants by striving to improve the Council’s housing services or for making a difference in their community.

The accolades were presented as part of Bassetlaw District Council’s Annual Tenant Conference and Meet the Team event in October at Worksop Town Hall.

Tenant Malcolm was recognised for his work supporting the Council’s Property and Development Team and carrying out inspections that will help to improve fire safety in tenants’ homes and improve the overall experience when major work is taking place in their homes.

Dedicated Stan was nominated for being a long-standing tenant member on many panels and groups that seek to improve housing services by gaining invaluable insights from customers, as well as representing his community.

Good neighbour Mick, the voice of Larwood House, was praised for his work within the Independent Living Centre helping tenants with their shopping, collecting prescriptions, and helping them to attend medical appointments.

Finally, for her commitment to Bassetlaw tenants over the last five years, Nina was recognised for being a tenant representative on numerous groups including the Voices of Bassetlaw, as well as helping many residents in rural communities to access services.

As part of the tenant conference, attendees heard about the current tenant satisfaction measures, an update from the tenant engagement team and were informed about support and wellbeing services.
