Bassetlaw Hospice is excited to announce their participation in the Hospice UK Legacy Campaign, which will be launched in February.

Bonney Baggaley, the Charity Operations Manager, said: “Bassetlaw Hospice is a local charity, and fundraising can be a challenge. We need to raise over £350,000 a year to provide the services for the community of Bassetlaw. Over the last few years, legacies left to charities have declined. This is a national issue, not just a local one, so we have joined this national campaign to help raise awareness of the impact that leaving a gift in a will to a charity like Bassetlaw Hospice has. It is a way to help future-proof the hospice services for the next generation.”

The Hospice has been providing the community of Bassetlaw with hospice care services for over 30 years. Support is offered from diagnosis and throughout a patient’s journey, and is provided to anyone diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

Patient feedback speaks volumes, as in this from Pat Bradley: “My daughter came with me and my husband to have a look around the hospice, and I must admit I really didn’t want to go! I don’t know what I thought it would be like… but I was surprised by the whole feel of the hospice. I was instantly put at ease.

“I soon settled into coffee mornings on a Friday; my husband comes along with me. The support we both receive there is beyond words! I soon started therapy sessions with Sandra (she is amazing), and I then started coming on a Wednesday too. The support from all staff and healthcare assistants has helped me out of the dark hole I had slipped into since my diagnosis, and they have even supported my husband with how he is feeling. I have made friends, and I now look forward to my days and coffee mornings here. I don’t know where I would be without the hospice and staff – you have been and are mine and Tony’s lifesaver.”

The Hospice runs a community coffee morning every Friday from 10.00am to 12.00pm. Feel free to pop in for a chat or to look around and meet the wonderful staff.

There are many ways to support the Hospice, from big fundraisers and organising community events, to signing up to be a Friend of Bassetlaw Hospice, leaving a gift in your will, and many more.
