Aurora Wellbeing Services

by | 11 October 2024 | Community Event, Local Charity, Support Group, Worksop

Aurora is a cancer charity providing support to local people living with cancer or long-term health conditions. However, the charity offers much more than cancer-related services. There are various support groups, counselling services, exercise classes, and recreational activities available, some of which are open to the general public. Aurora also has a fully stocked charity shop selling high-quality items, and its tearoom serves home-cooked meals and delicious cakes, Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Spotlight on… Monday Men’s Club

Aurora’s Monday Men’s Group meets on alternate Monday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm (upcoming dates: 7th and 21st October) in the Community Room. The group works on practical projects, shares skills, and socialises in a safe environment. This instructor-led activity costs £3.00 per session, which includes refreshments and all materials. Anyone interested in learning a new skill or exploring their creative side is welcome to join. For more information or to book a place, call 01909 470985.

Rainbow Club

Rainbow Club is a new, free support group for people with advanced cancer. It meets on the third Thursday of every month from 2.00pm to 3.00pm and is led by a volunteer who also has advanced cancer. This group provides an opportunity to share experiences and receive support from someone who understands. The next meeting is on Thursday, 17th October. For more information or to book a place, email Claire, Aurora’s counsellor, at claire.mitchell-wall@aurorawellbeing.org.uk.

Spooky tales at Aurora

Do you know any spooky tales about Worksop people or places? Aurora’s Heritage Hub is collecting myths, urban legends, or ghost stories from around Worksop for an exhibition and children’s half-term activities taking place between 19th October and 1st November. If you have any tales to share, please email heritage@aurorawellbeing.org.uk or speak to one of the heritage volunteers at the Heritage Hub.
