The November meeting of Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group was well attended and welcomed guest speaker Kevin Murphy talking about Prisoners of War (POW), in Bassetlaw. Photographs and slides revealed the large number of POW camps in the area plus the stories of prisoners who remained in the area after the war, married and raised families. An excellent afternoon was enjoyed by everyone and Kevin generously donated his fees to The Royal British Legion.
The group’s December meeting takes the form of the Christmas party on 11th December at The Shireoaks Inn, Worksop at 3.00pm. Members are reminded to contact Pat Broskom before 1st December to reserve a place and select food choices.
The 2018 season has a full and varied programme to look forward to and begins on Friday 5th January at Retford Hospital, when Mike Ogden will talk about the royal bloodline in a presentation entitled ‘The Seed of Kings’. The aim of the group is to demonstrate that there is a full life to be enjoyed despite having had a serious cardiac problem. New members are always warmly welcomed. The group meets on the first Friday of every month at 2.00pm, alternating between Retford Hospital and The Crossing in Worksop. Members wish all readers a happy Christmas and a prosperous and healthy new year. For more information call Pat on 01909 562361.
