Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group

2018 was a busy and pleasant year for Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group and members enjoyed theatre trips, days out by coach and a river trip with afternoon tea. At their meeting on Friday 4th January (the AGM), a report was read out, regarding the busy year in 2018 and, sadly, the resignation of chairman Chris Coldwell.

In her absence, members wished her well and were pleased that Chris and her husband, Barry, will continue to attend future meetings. Pat Broskom (who writes these updates) accepted the vacancy and thanked members for their confidence in her. The group looks forward to planned events for 2019.

The speaker, Pat McLaughlin, then gave a very interesting talk about the ‘Wonders of the Ancient World’ and how glacial erratics had changed the world — with our own Anston Stones, proving a good example. Early settlers, the hunter gatherers, evolved into agriculturists and ancient cities were vacated due mainly to lack of rainfall. Pat swept through the centuries of change and members could have stayed and listened indefinitely. However, he promised to come back in the future, and the group looks forward to that.

May the group wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and remind you that you are all welcome to join them. Their next meeting will be 1st February, at 2.00pm at The Crossing, Worksop, when the speaker will be Debbie Singh-Bhati. For more information call Pat on 01909 562361.
