Do you have a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument at home that you’re learning to play – or haven’t played for some time? Would you like to improve your playing? Do you think you’d enjoy making music with a band in a friendly, supportive environment?
If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, then The Dukeries Community Band could be perfect for you.
The band meets every Tuesday during term time at The Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any age, provided they can read music, attend rehearsals regularly, and are willing to perform in the band’s concerts – usually around six each year.
The band’s repertoire continues to grow and includes a mix of pop, classical and everything in between. Recent additions include a selection of hits by Meat Loaf and music from Moana.
Younger musicians are welcome to attend the first hour of rehearsal if two hours feels too long.
The band’s concerts support local communities and charitable causes, and they are always pleased to hear from organisations interested in hosting a performance.

The band looks forward to welcoming new faces—whether at a concert or a rehearsal.
