The Dukeries Community Band – helping to raise money for good causes

by | 31 May 2024 | Hobbies, Music, Sherwood

The Dukeries Community Band is delighted that its first two concerts in 2024 have each raised over £1,000 for local and international charities supported by the Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest.

Their next performance is in the afternoon of Saturday 1st June at the St Paulinus Church, Ollerton, Family Fun Day. The fun day is taking place between 11.00am and 3.00pm and is raising money for the Church and The Nottinghamshire Miners Memorial at Berry Hill Park.

There will be stalls and live entertainment to enjoy. The Band will be there playing some of their favourite pieces to get your toes tapping and singing along with.

The Band rehearses each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any age as long as you are able to read music, able to attend rehearsals and are keen to play in concerts.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while or have started to learn recently. A willingness to participate and improve is key (and they don’t audition!).
