You may have seen Bilsthorpe’s one-legged duck Stumble in the media a lot recently, after he received a special duck wheelchair. The much-loved resident at Manor Farm Charitable Trust is an elderly duck, having been with the charity for six years and in another rescue for several years before that after having had his leg amputated following a fishing line accident. During this past year they’ve had several valiant attempts to make him a prosthetic by some very kind and skilled people, but despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing has quite worked. They raised funds for a specialist and bespoke wheelchair, and in October he received this fantastic present.
Manor Farm Charitable Trust provide lifelong sanctuary for livestock in need, particularly elderly, disabled farm animals and those with special behavioural needs. They often take difficult to rehome animals from other rescue charities and offer them loving care and rehabilitation.
The sanctuary was privately established in 2011 and gained registered charity status in July 2017. They currently have around 170 animals in their care, including sheep, goats, donkeys, ponies, pigs, hens, ducks and geese. They always welcome donations, no matter how small.
