The Dukeries Community Band is a community wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. New players are welcome to any of their rehearsals to join in straight away or just to listen.
New players, of any age, are always welcome and they don’t audition. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently. All they ask is that you can read music, want to improve, can attend rehearsals and are able to play in their concerts.
They would especially welcome more brass players, ie trumpet / cornet, euphonium / baritone, French horn, trombone and tuba / bass players. However, woodwind players are still very welcome too. Contact dukeriescommband@btinternet.com.
The band’s concerts support the local community and charities. They have just played their first concert of the year and are again working on new pieces to add to their ever-increasing repertoire. So it’s a great time to join. They play a massive mix of music from pop to classical with lots in between, so there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
They rehearse each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
