Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions

Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions extend their sincere wishes for a Happy New Year.

It has been a remarkable year, ending on a high note, as the club has supported numerous individuals and groups, too many to list individually. However, their focus remains on assisting those most in need, such as food banks, disabled groups, and the outstanding School for Parents, which supports children and families with complex needs.

One particularly heartwarming moment was when the club raised a significant sum to provide food vouchers, ensuring residents of the local refuge could enjoy a proper Christmas dinner. The refuge staff, who tirelessly support families fleeing domestic violence, deserve immense recognition, and the Lions are delighted to aid their efforts during such a challenging time of year.

The Lions express their gratitude not only to their members but also to the generous individuals who donate and trust the club to channel funds towards such worthy causes.

The club was thrilled to feature on Midlands Today with weather presenter Rob Rose filming their sleigh run in Bilsthorpe. The media exposure highlights the club’s activities and their ongoing need for support and new members.

Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions are actively seeking new members to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Membership is open to all, and the club prides itself on its balanced representation of male and female members, including a valued blind member who contributes greatly to their efforts.

The Lions work hard but also enjoy a vibrant social aspect, making it a wonderful opportunity to form friendships while supporting the community.

The Lions are also seeking sponsors and businesses to help continue their vital work.
