April is all about daffodils!

Daffodils are one of the nation’s favourite flowers; the sight of them always lifts the spirits and, of course, they herald the beginning of spring. Enjoy hosts of golden daffodils along with many other spring bulbs, in beautiful garden settings at a National Garden Scheme open day this April:

Felley Priory

Underwood NG16 5FJ
Saturday 16th April, 10.00am to 4.00pm

A garden for all seasons, with yew topiary, snowdrops, hellebores, herbaceous borders and rose garden. The grass edged pond is planted with primulas, eucomis, bamboo and roses. In April the orchard is filled with thousands of daffodils, some extremely rare. From the garden visitors can walk up to a bluebell wood. Wheelchair access, parking, plants for sale, refreshments, cashless payment available.

Oasis Community Gardens

2a Longfellow Drive, Kilton, Worksop S81 0DE
Saturday 16th April, 10.00am to 4.00pm

This community project boasts over 30 areas, several garden enterprises and is managed by volunteers. The garden has the famous liquorice garden, the first in Worksop for 100 years. Other attractions include Cactus Kingdom, ‘flowers for life’ project, wildlife wonderland and children’s pre-school play village in addition to a wonderful variety of flowers plants and shrubs. Wheelchair access, refreshments, plants for sale, cashless payments available.

Capability Barn

Gonalston Lane, Hoveringham NG14 7JH
Saturday 23rd April and Sunday 24th April, 11.00am to 4.30pm

Imaginatively planted large country garden with something new each year. April brings displays of daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips, together with erythroniums, brunneras and primulas. A backdrop of established trees and shrubs give a charming country setting. Large vegetable and fruit orchard / meadow complete the picture. Plants for sale, refreshments.

Sunday 24th April, 10.00am to 4.00pm

A spring garden with lots of colour with many rare and unusual plants, miniature narcissi, acers, aconites and magnolias. A good selection of garden pots and ornaments. Refreshments, plants for sale, cashless payments available.

Bolham Manor

Bolham Lane, Retford DN22 9JG.
Open by arrangement, February to September

This three-acre mature garden provides year-round interest. In April,‘Dancing willow Ladies’ greet you amongst swathes of daffodils, narcissus and early spring bulbs. Topiary features and sculptures guide you through the different areas of the garden with its well-planed terraced and herbaceous borders, ponds and orchard. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy in the grounds.
