Thanks to everyone who attended the Soup Sessions raising funds for earthquake victims run by the volunteers from Winthrop Gardens with the support of Wickersley Parish Council.
Councillor Sue Ellis, Chair of the Winthrop Committee said: “I want to pay tribute to the Winthrop volunteers who made our two ‘Earthquake Soup Sessions’ possible – it was a lovely sunny day on Wednesday 8th March but by Friday 10th March, the day of our second session, we had masses of snow to clear to enable the event to happen!
“Huge thanks to everyone who supported both the events and to those, unable to attend, who made cash donations.
“At the time of writing, I understand we have been able to send the Disasters Emergency Committee a fantastic £1248.75 thanks to our canny Winthrop Organiser managing to find ‘match funding’ against everything raised locally.”
