In March Rotherham Sitwell Rotary inducted two new lady members — very appropriate on International Women’s Day. The Mayor of Rotherham, Eve Rose Keenan, was inducted as an Honorary Member. The Mayor said she felt she knew Sitwell Rotarians very well, having seen them at ‘Music In The Gardens’, the Christmas activities, building the path at Newman School, and manning the bar at the recent Real Ale Festival at Magna, despite the weather. She is looking forward to visiting the group again soon.
Catherine Bridge was inducted as a full member. She is married to David, and has a daughter Rebecca. She teaches in the primary department of Newman School, which supports pupils with a wide range of special needs. Sitwell Rotary Club has been taking children from the school on trips to the seaside for about 15 years and, for the last 12 of them, Catherine has been the school contact, heavily involved in planning and organising the event. Recently when the club was unable to run the trip to Cleethorpes, she stepped in and suggested they bring the seaside to the school — and that went down very well indeed. She is clearly lots of fun, loved by her pupils, and a caring person. At this time in her life she feels she has some more time, so is happy to get involved with Rotary as a member. As a team player she will be an asset to the club.
