Calling all sports fans. Rotherham u3a’s highly successful mixed Walking Cricket team recently celebrated its first anniversary.
Now an exciting partnership between Ru3a and Rotherham United Community Sports Trust’s ‘More Than Football’ project is introducing weekly Walking Football and Walking Netball games in St Thomas’ Community Hall, Kimberworth.

RUCST is providing the venue, coaching, equipment, and practice bibs. The games will be played to Football / Netball Association rules led by RUCST sports coaches. As with Walking Cricket, both teams will be mixed. Walking Football and Walking Netball are non-contact sports, giving gentle cardiac and muscular exercise, and generating that feel-good factor.
Players are allowed to walk fast but may not run or jog with the ball or off the ball. Both games are exhilarating, and fun.

RUCST ‘More than Football’ project team is offering Waking Football and Netball as Rotherham u3a 10-week pilot groups. Weekly subs are £2.50. After 10 weeks, non-members will be invited to join Rotherham u3a and continue as regular groups with venue costs paid by the u3a. For more details, contact Tricia Macredie (Ru3a) on 01709 270899 or Andy Glossop (RUCST) on 07508 495883 or 01709 827767.

All Ru3a activities and pilot programmes are open to anyone no longer in full-time employment. Membership gives free access to more than 30 Ru3a activities, dependent on availability. To discover more, visit www.u3asites.org.uk/rotherham.
