Winthrop’s May Day Plant Sale
Winthrop volunteers are busy preparing for a May Day Plant Sale on Saturday 1st May between 10.00am and 4.00pm
“Everyone at Winthrop is busy organising our Open Day and Plant Sale, which we hope will be the start of our return to business as usual,” said Councillor Sue Ellis, Chair of Wickersley Parish Council. “We know how much people have missed Winthrop over the last long and hard year so we’ve planned this event as a safe and gentle re-introduction for everyone. We’ll be operating a one-way system and our stalls will be outside and well spaced out.
“We’ll have a range of plants for sale – largely perennials including our renowned ‘Hotlips’ and an expanding range of indoor / conservatory plants. People tell how much they like to buy plants at Winthrop because seeing them growing in the gardens gives them a really good idea of where to position them and the size to which they’ll grow.”
In addition to plants for sale, there will also be crafts and books for sale. The popular preserve stall has been fully re-stocked with a great selection of marmalades which volunteers have been making in lockdown. Refreshments will be available if the Covid restrictions permit.
Anyone who would like to donate cuttings, seedlings or ‘splits’ to Winthrop – please contact Anna Chester on 07397 039226 to arrange collection.
