Harworth Christie Organ Enthusiasts

The Harworth Christie began life in 1934, when it was built for the Regal Cinema – Durham. The closing of the Regal Cinema gave the Harworth Christie Organ Enthusiasts’ committee the chance to purchase the Christie Organ. This involved the dismantling of the organ, and transporting it to Harworth over many journeys back and forth to be stored in various sites at the colliery. Finally, after being rebuilt it was eventually opened in 1973 in the Miners Welfare Hall.
Dances and concerts have been performed regularly ever since. Unfortunately since the last concert was held in February, COVID-19 reared its ugly head and all dances and concerts plus the Wednesday tea dance have been cancelled until further notice.
The group look forward to welcoming back all those who have supported them in the past, and hopefully newcomers too, when they can reopen. For further information, please visit www.harworthchristie.org.uk.
