Autumn Ambles
Following on from the very successful Wickersley Walking Festival, quite a few people asked for some shorter walks. So, Winthrop has organised ‘Summer Strolls’ which, from 1st September, will become ‘Autumn Ambles’!
These are circular walks from Winthrop Gardens on Second Lane, Wickersley S66 1EE, every Tuesday leaving at 1.30pm and taking no more than an hour. The aim is to support and encourage people to get walking and become confident walkers! They will be easy walks of around a mile and allow people to walk at their own pace with the support of Winthrop’s experienced Volunteer Walk Leaders.
Everyone is welcome and there’s no charge to take part. If you get there early you can enjoy a light lunch of some homemade soup and a warm crusty roll! Or maybe stay after for a cuppa and some delicious homemade cake?
And if you feel up for a longer walk then the Wednesday Walks – every Wednesday morning leaving Winthrop at 10.30am – are circular walks of around three miles.
Festive Events
Winthrop has lots planned for the festive season and makes no apologies for telling you about them now as many guests attend in groups and need to plan ahead!
There will be an Afternoon Tea with a Festive Flowers demonstration on Tuesday 19th November, 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start.
This is a very popular event led by demonstrator Kathryn Sherwood, a very experienced and creative florist and RHS judge. She generally does five or six arrangements specially curated to enable guests to create at home!
Further Festive Afternoon Teas will follow, very popular events and a great opportunity to meet up with friends and family before Christmas:

- Wednesday 4th December
The Afternoon Tea and Festive Afternoon Tea events are held at Wickersley Community Centre, Bawtry Road, Wickersley S66 1JJ and are 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start.
Places for each are £17.50pp and must be pre-booked and paid for in advance at Winthrop (cash only).
