The Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to support local students by awarding its Bursary for Nursing. This annual initiative aims to help one student from Thomas Rotherham College and one student from Rotherham College to pursue their dreams of becoming nurses.
Samantha Osbourne excelled in her Level 3 Access to HE: Health Science Professionals (NHS Fastrack) course at Rotherham College. Now, she’s pursuing a degree in Adult Nursing at Sheffield Hallam University. Recognised for her dedication and hard work by her tutors, Samantha will use the bursary to help cover her travel costs to university and placements.
Lydia Frere, a student at Thomas Rotherham College, achieved high grades in her A-levels, including Medical Science. She is set to start her Adult Nursing studies at the University of Sheffield, with a placement at Rotherham Hospital. The Bursary will assist Lydia in purchasing essential equipment and books for her course. It was presented to her at Thomas Rotherham College.
Helping Wortley Rotary on Remembrance Sunday
President Martin and other members of Sitwell Rotary attended the Remembrance Parade at Fox Valley Retail Park to help Wortley Rotary with the safe running of the event. This was the first of four collaborations with Wortley during November and December, culminating with Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve.
Children in Need
Mary Poppins aka Rotarian Julia Jenkins turned up at the Club’s recent meeting in aid of Children in Need. Julia collected a total of £142 for Children in Need. Well done Julia. A great start to your Rotary career. Service above Self but having fun at the same time.
