Recycle your Christmas tree

by | 20 December 2024 | Local Charity, Rother

As the festive season comes to a close, give your Christmas tree a meaningful end by recycling it with Rotherham Hospice!

For a donation of your choice, the charity will collect your real Christmas tree. It’ll then be taken it away to be chipped and recycled with a local landscape company, Garden Do-It-All Maintenance ltd. All donations go directly towards the Hospice’s care services, helping them to provide support to those in need in our community.

Register for collection at www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk/christmas-trees before the deadline on 7th January 2025 to ensure they can include you in the schedule.

They will collect on 13th, 14th and 15th January from the following locations: S60, S61, S62, S63, S64, S65, S66.

At Rotherham Hospice, they are dedicated to delivering exceptional palliative care with a personal touch, right here in the heart of the Rotherham community. They provide comprehensive, personalised palliative care both in their Inpatient Unit and within the comfort of patients’ homes. Their dedicated team supports individuals and their families throughout their end-of-life journey, offering a range of services including pain management, holistic therapies, and bereavement support.

They have the capacity to care for 14 patients at their in-patient unit at the hospice, as well as caring for hundreds more each year throughout Rotherham with their hospice at home service.

All of their care is given free of charge to all their patients; however, it costs over £6 million each year to run the Hospice, with only a portion of this being funded from central government. The rest they must raise themselves with the support of our local community.

Last year, they collected over 230 trees from supporters of the Hospice who gave a small donation in return for the service. This not only raised vital funds to support the work they do, but it also saved 3,728 kg of CO2 emissions going into landfill! This year they want to go even bigger with their collecting, having an even greater impact on the environment as well as raising money to fund patient care.
