Dinnington Rugby Union Football Club (RUFC) is breaking new ground as it announces the launch of a dedicated girls’ section, expanding its commitment to fostering young talent and promoting inclusivity in the sport.

With the already thriving U11s girls team, Dinnington RUFC is set to become a hub for girls’ rugby excellence, offering opportunities for players aged four to 18.

Dedicated girls training nights are due to start on Tuesday 2nd January from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and will run every Tuesday for the remainder of the season.

Rugby is a sport that transcends gender, and its values of teamwork, respect, discipline, and sportsmanship make it an ideal platform for personal growth and development. It provides many merits for girls, providing an environment that not only nurtures athletic skills but also builds character and confidence. The physicality of the sport promotes strength and fitness, while the strategic nature of the game enhances cognitive skills. Rugby’s camaraderie and sense of community contribute to a supportive and empowering atmosphere for all players.

Dinnington RUFC has already made significant strides in girls’ rugby, boasting the largest U11s girls team in Yorkshire. The decision to expand the girls’ section is a natural progression, fuelled by the passion and dedication of players, coaches, and supporters alike.

Dinnington RUFC has long been a pioneer in youth development, and the Club recognises the importance of starting early, instilling a love for the game and creating a pathway for girls to progress in their rugby journey.

Building on the success of its existing programs, Dinnington RUFC has appointed a new Head of Girls Rugby and formed teams for girls aged 12 and beyond. This expansion ensures that players can continue their rugby journey within the club, fostering a sense of continuity and progression. It also opens doors for older girls to explore competitive rugby, representing Dinnington RUFC with pride and skill.
