by | 31 July 2019 | Community Event, Competition, Heritage, Retford

Retford will celebrate National Heritage Open Day this year on Saturday 14th September with a host of activities throughout the town and free entry into some of our most important buildings. Retford Civic Society has once again organised the event to appeal to everyone who has an interest in the town and its history. This year the theme is The Chesterfield Canal and Retford’s Working Heritage. Boats will be moored behind The Little Theatre near a variety of stalls and displays. Also, you will see the Seth Ellis local canal boat which will be available for 40-minute trips on the Chesterfield Canal.

Tickets cost £5.00 a seat or £18.00 for a family ticket. To book please call 07925 851569. A free programme detailing all tours, timetable, events and displays is available from The Bassetlaw Museum on Grove Street, Retford Library and The Hub on Churchgate, or online at www.retfordcivicsociety.org.uk.
