Retford Library reopened its doors to the public a year ago, after undergoing an extensive refurbishment. Like every other public space, it then experienced lockdown closures through the pandemic. Throughout lockdown the library provided a click-and-collect service as well as home delivery and essential PC use with staff in the building. We are pleased to say that the library is now fully open and ready for customers old and new. Opening times are 9.00am to 6.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am to 3.30pm on Saturdays.
The refurbishment has made the library more visible and accessible to the local community, with easier-to-navigate shelving. The local studies collection is now downstairs in the beautiful heritage room to allow easier access for all to this amazing resource.
The children’s library has been relocated to the rear of the library, creating a more bright and vibrant area for reading and activities and leading out into the rear with a new decked area and garden space.
Please go along and browse your beautiful new-look library! The library is free to join with well-stocked bookshelves and comfortable areas to sit and read or study. The friendly staff are always on hand with advice or assistance – or just to chat about books! Reading is renowned for its health and wellbeing benefits, and you can ask the knowledgeable staff for interesting book recommendations just for you.
More events and activities will be added soon, so make sure you visit to find out what is on offer.
