The Methodist Church in Retford

The Grove and Hallcroft Methodist Churches together form the Methodist Church in the town.

Grove Methodist Church is now fully open for several weeks following the lengthy renovation works. They would like to invite you to go along and explore the beautiful, warm, comfortable space. No need to wait for a special event.

Before the last cushion was in place on the newly polished pews, the new space was already in use as members of the Little Theatre were welcomed to a Sunday service to present The History of Methodism in Retford, written by Stephen Walker. A witty, entertaining and informative revue enjoyed by all. Did you know that John Wesley visited Retford on two occasions?

During early May, the church was full of paintings as the Retford Art Society held its Spring Art Exhibition and it hosted displays on Charter Day.

The church is looking forward to experimenting with this new space not only for daily events but for Sunday services and quiet, reflective times.

At the Circuit Service in May the church was packed practically to the rafters as friends from the churches around the circuit joined for a service of celebration – and also a time to thank Di Welchman, who retires after nearly 30 years as Circuit Administrator.

The newly formed music group led the singing and the new audio and screen system was greatly appreciated!
