Retford Lions Club

As summer draws to a close, Retford Lions Club enters a busy period of preparation. Santa’s sleigh is currently undergoing renovation, and plans are being made for his visits around the town and surrounding areas.

Each year, the planning becomes more complex with the addition of new estates in the town. While every effort is made to visit as many areas as possible, it is inevitable that some locations may be missed. However, there will be static opportunities to see Santa, which will be advertised locally, alongside the usual programme. As always, Santa will be at the Town Hall, giving children the chance to whisper their Christmas wishes. Look out for confirmed dates closer to December.

At the July meeting, Sarah Dunning gave a presentation regarding an appeal to furnish the new children’s area at the emergency suite in Bassetlaw Hospital. She is aiming to raise £100,000 to purchase playground equipment and other necessary items.

The Lions are appealing for volunteers to assist with Santa’s sleigh visits during the evenings in December. The sleigh rounds typically run from 5.45pm to 7.45pm, and all safety equipment will be provided. If you are able-bodied and have some spare time to help support this local charity, please get in touch via their Facebook page: Retford Lions Club.
