On Wednesday 13th November, Retford and District Historical and Archaeological Society will welcome Grant Cullen to speak about the Commemoration and Remembrance of the Great War 1914 – 1918.
Grant’s talk will include an illustrated journey along the Western Front in France, Belgium, and Russia, before heading to Gallipoli. He will examine significant sites of Commemoration and Remembrance and include poems and quotations.
Grant will also discuss the story of the Unknown Soldier and the interment in Westminster Abbey. At this time of Remembrance, this will be an opportunity to learn more about these important sites and reflect on the terrible loss of life that was incurred.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm in the Chapelgate Hall behind Grove Street Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome; individuals can join the society for £10.00 per year attend for £3.00 per meeting as visitors.
