With the longer daylight hours, thoughts are turning to the cricket season.
Ordsall Bridon Cricket Club, based in the centre of Ordsall, has been preparing since before Christmas for the 2025 season.
The well-established club has two senior sides competing in the Bassetlaw League and a women’s softball team in the East Midlands. However, it is the juniors who are seen as invaluable members, both now and for the future.
The club will compete in five age groups in the newly formed Notts Junior League. All teams include players of both sexes, and the enjoyment of all squad members is evident throughout the summer.
Club coaching is led by an ECB Level 3 coach, supported by other established and qualified coaches. Junior coaching sessions take place on Fridays from 5.30pm to 7.00pm, beginning on Friday 4th April at the ground.
The club will also run the All Stars programme, commencing in mid-May, also on Friday evenings at the ground.
The senior sides are always seeking new members to strengthen their squads. Senior practice takes place on Thursday evenings in the indoor sports hall at Ranby School.
Work is ongoing to maintain the old pavilion for as long as possible, but fundraising efforts are underway to replace the building in the future.
Any male or female players interested in joining the club, either as a senior or junior, are welcome to attend any sessions on Thursdays or Sundays during the winter months or contact Gareth Jones on 07468 621505.
