Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust – North Nottinghamshire Local Group

by | 6 February 2025 | Retford, Wildlife

The River Trent, between Nottingham and Gainsborough, boasts a fascinating and eventful history. The North Notts Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s talk this month offers a journey down the river, exploring lost channels, forgotten ferries, and the impact of the river’s changing course on the villages along its banks.

Adrian Gray, a Cambridge-educated historian and author of approximately 30 historical books, will guide this captivating exploration. With a focus on the counties of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, Adrian’s extensive knowledge and engaging delivery are well known to those who have attended his talks, tours, or history walks. While this talk departs from the group’s usual wildlife-oriented topics, it provides a fresh perspective on a significant natural resource.

The meeting will take place at the Idle Valley Centre, Retford, on Thursday 13th February, starting at 7.15pm. Entry costs £3.00 and includes tea and biscuits. All are welcome, and there is no need to book.
