The December 2024 Afternoon Ballroom Dance in Morton was held just six days before Christmas. Dancing was to mostly Christmas-themed music for almost all dances, and refreshments featured the usual Christmas fayre. A good time was had by all present, with presents and cards given to all members and those who helped with the refreshments and set-up of the hall. These dances have been taking place at Morton Village Hall for about 20 years.
A mix of CD music for the ballroom Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep, plus Latin dances of Rumba, Cha Cha, Tango, and occasionally a Samba, is played for each dance. There are also a couple of Sequence and Old Time dances in each half of the 2½-hour dance. However, the dances are not only about dancing, with much chatter about what dancers have been doing in the previous month.
Dances are held on the third Thursday of each month (20th February, 20th March, 17th April) starting at 2.00pm and finishing at 4.30pm, with an approximately 25-minute interval for refreshments and a chat.
It is a friendly group that welcomes new dancers of all levels of ability. The venue is Morton Village Hall, Walkerith Road, Morton, Gainsborough. Tickets are £5.00 per person, although there are occasionally unannounced free dances for regular attendees. A raffle is also run with prizes donated by dancers.
Everyone looks forward to welcoming new faces!
