Grove WI met on Thursday 16th January at Hallcroft Community Centre, kicking off the new year in style.
Members gathered for a fun afternoon of quizzes, poetry and singing. “It was so nice to start the new year with a programme of activities all the members enjoyed so much,” said President Barbara Henderson.
In addition to poetry recitals and singing, committee member Shirley Pickersgill devised two general knowledge quizzes, while Brenda Brown created a music quiz, skilfully playing the music clues on a keyboard. Members split into small teams to see who could get the most correct answers while enjoying the customary afternoon tea. Great fun was had by all.
Plans for forthcoming meetings include a range of activities, with guest speakers entertaining members on a variety of interesting subjects.
Grove WI is actively seeking new members. Anyone interested in joining this friendly group of ladies is encouraged to go along for a warm welcome. Meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month at Hallcroft Community Centre, starting at 2.00pm.
