Embarking Chimps

Embarking Chimps is a close-knit gym group, united by a shared passion for fitness, fun, and embracing new challenges. The idea emerged to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge – scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon within 24 hours.

With two team members having parents affected by cancer, the group decided to raise funds for FireFly, a local charity based in Doncaster that provides free transport and support for cancer patients travelling to regional treatment hospitals. The FireFly fleet is run by a dedicated team of volunteer drivers, making a significant difference in patients’ lives.

The team plans to begin their ascent of Ben Nevis at 7.00am on Saturday 19th July, followed by Scafell Pike at 6.00pm, aiming to celebrate completing Snowdon at 7.00am on Sunday 20th July – hopefully with minimal blisters and injuries! The challenge is fully self-funded, ensuring that 100% of sponsorship and donations go directly to FireFly.

Meet the team

The team is Nathan, Hannah, Kirsty, Barry, Chris, Millie, Sam, Cat, Keedy, Pat, and Ian.

As a show of unity, the team used the letters of their names to create an anagram – Embarking Chimps – which perfectly describes their spirit. Eleven ‘infantile monkeys’ setting off on an adventure, demonstrating unity, solidarity, and determination to push their bodies to the limit.

Support for their challenge would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made at gofund.me/fcf95678.
