Last year witnessed at least two successful reunions of various Old Retfordians, past pupils of the now-closed King Edward VI Grammar School.
In May, 20 pupils, and one teacher, of the 1977-1984 era enjoyed a meal, a sunny evening, and in several cases overnight accommodation hosted at the comfortable West Retford Hotel.
Later, in September, a mixed age group enjoyed a similar evening at the delightful Ye Olde Bell in Barnby Moor. They were also treated (with some trepidation) to an impromptu, personal coaching in the use of a hoverboard, brought along by one of the senior (but nevertheless very adventurous) guests! No injuries reported…
Attendees are consistently surprised at how many stories they have in common with pupils of a different age. The next gathering is on Wednesday 19th April; information can be found at www.oldretfordians.org.uk but book quickly if you would like to join!
