The Bassetlaw Place-Based Partnership, in collaboration with Bassetlaw Action Centre and Retford and Villages Primary Care Network, is pleased to announce a special open evening on Tuesday 10th September, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Idle Valley, Retford. This event, held on World Suicide Prevention Day, aims to bring together farmers, rural residents, and other community members to learn about the support available and discuss the future of the Bassetlaw Focus on Farmers project.

The evening will feature guest speakers from ‘We Are Farming Minds’ and ‘Riders Minds’, two organisations dedicated to mental health and wellbeing in the agricultural and equestrian communities. These speakers will provide valuable insights and resources to help shape the future of the project, focusing on supporting the mental health of farmers and those working in rural settings.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the NHS digital app and participate in feedback discussions regarding the Bassetlaw Focus on Farmers project. These discussions will cover current initiatives and future plans, with local farmers and community members encouraged to share their ideas on how the project can best serve their needs.

The event will include stands from various community organisations, offering information and advice on the wide range of support services available throughout Bassetlaw. This will provide attendees with the chance to connect with local services that can assist them in their daily lives.

Additionally, the event will showcase newly launched tractor-shaped air fresheners, funded by the Rotary Club of Retford. These air fresheners, distributed at the event, feature a QR code that provides direct access to online support services, ensuring that farmers and rural residents can easily find help when needed.

“We’re excited to bring together our local farming communities and other rural residents for this important event,” said Helen Azar, Head of Health Inequalities at Bassetlaw Place-Based Partnership. “It’s an opportunity for everyone to learn more about the resources available to them, connect with each other, and help shape the future of the Bassetlaw Focus on Farmers project.”

All farmers, rural community residents in Bassetlaw, and anyone interested in the project are welcome to attend. The event promises to be an informative and engaging evening for all involved.
