Aurora is a local cancer charity providing support in Bassetlaw for people living with cancer or a long-term health condition. As a community hub, Aurora also offers a safe and warm environment for everyone, whether they are feeling lonely, looking to meet new people, or hoping to take up a new hobby. It provides a range of heritage and wellbeing activities that promote self-care, reduce isolation, and help people reconnect with their community. It also has a charity shop and tearooms, as well as a Heritage Hub featuring local history displays and mini exhibitions throughout the year.

Spotlight on… Beauty & Holistic Therapy

Anyone with a cancer diagnosis living in the Bassetlaw area can access a package of six complimentary beauty or holistic treatments for up to a year after finishing cancer treatment. Carers of those with a cancer diagnosis are also entitled to two free treatments.

Aurora’s beauty therapists provide support and advice to cancer clients, but their services are also available to the general public. By using these services, members of the community help to fund free treatments for those affected by cancer, ensuring vital care is available to those in need.

Exercise in ‘The Curve’ at Aurora

Exercise can be daunting at the best of times, but even more so when living with health conditions. Aurora aims to promote and support wellbeing during cancer diagnosis, treatment, and beyond. It offers specific fitness sessions for people living with or recovering from cancer, delivered by a fully qualified cancer exercise specialist. All sessions are subject to the necessary health screening to ensure safety, and those unsure should consult their GP before starting any exercise. Each client receives a programme tailored to their condition and needs.
Most exercise classes at Aurora are open to everyone, not just those with a cancer diagnosis. All abilities are encouraged to join in.
