Specialist personal training to help support cancer patients in Bassetlaw

Aurora Wellbeing Centre Bassetlaw

A local cancer charity has launched a new and unique exercise programme for people in the Bassetlaw area living with a cancer diagnosis. Aurora Wellbeing has launched a ‘personalised prescribed exercise programme’ providing patients with four complimentary one-to-one sessions with a cancer exercise specialist, either before, during or after their treatment. read more

Communities set to benefit from 97 new projects thanks to council funding

Four projects planned in the Retford community are among 97 projects in Nottinghamshire set to benefit from investment as part of a County Council scheme supporting local projects. Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust will receive £16,000 to improve visitor accessibility at Idle Valley Nature Reserve near Retford while Retford Cricket Club’s project to improve pavilion facilities is set to receive £7,675. read more

Having recently started as the new manager of Bassetlaw Food Bank I felt that this was a great time to reflect on the fantastic work the Bassetlaw community has done in response to the local impact of the pandemic. The food bank had seen growing demand for its services ahead of the pandemic that hit the country in the spring of 2020. read more

Muddy Fork, Retford’s gardening for wellbeing charity based at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, is running groups again, for the first time since the March lockdown. This has been made possible by the recent reopening of the reserve car park, enabling easy access to the Muddy Fork garden. read more

Clarborough & Welham Parish Council

Clarborough and Welham Parish Council has been pressing Bassetlaw and Nottinghamshire councils to invest in flood prevention work. A ‘big’ scheme to divert flood water away from the Main Street is still under development. In the meantime, Nottinghamshire County Council has supported work to improve the catchment area. read more

It seems a long time since the Sutton and Barnby Moor Gardening Club actually met (Tuesday 3rd March to be precise). This was the group’s AGM. At the AGM the present chairperson, Jenny Bailey, welcomed everyone to the meeting and gave a brief outline of the club’s activities over the last 12 months.
