Ride the Don Valley with Sustrans

Bassetlaw Sustrans Rangers have devised a new route for their next social leisure cycle ride on Sunday 17th June, which will be a circular tour from Harworth to Sprotbrough, taking in a scenic section of the Trans-Pennine Trail (National Cycle Network route 62) through the Don Valley. read more

Carol Portas welcomed 69 members and two guests to the May meeting of Retford Ladies Probus. She then introduced Joyce and Avril from JAK Silks. Joyce got the travel bug and went backpacking and her favourite place was India. She brought Avril a beautiful silk scarf which was much admired and this prompted them to start a business. read more

Aspiring authors from across the district are readying themselves for the latest chapter of the popular North Notts Short Story Competition, which is back for a third year. Following the success of previous competitions, Bassetlaw District Council is asking local writers to submit stories based around this year’s theme of ‘Wars and Pieces’, chosen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. read more
