Lena Snowden Singers

by | 26 February 2020 | Hobbies, Music

Retford-based Lena Snowden Singers choir is one of Nottinghamshire’s leading women’s choirs. The 16th January 2020 marked 100 years since their founder, Lena Snowden, was born. She was an amazing lady and a wonderfully talented musician. She formed the choir in 1986 and was, for many years, accompanist to The Retford Male Voice Choir.

She is very fondly remembered by ‘her girls’ as she called the choir’s members and they are proud to carry on her name. A birthday tribute concert for Lena is planned for sometime in, perhaps, May. The exact date is yet to be decided.
The choir perform at concerts all over the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, wherever and whenever asked, and available for weddings and other special events, singing a selection of modern and traditional light music and songs from the shows. They also love to support charities.

If you love to sing and would like to join the friendly and fun loving choir, please go along to a practise any Thursday night at The Hallcroft Methodist Church, Hallcroft Road, Retford at 7.30pm or email judykewarth@gmail.com for more information.

If you would like to book the choir for your event please contact judykewarth@gmail.com or call 01777 707023.
