Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions decided at this year’s planning meeting to keep youth projects to the fore during 2025. They are already contacting schools in our area to see how they can help them and are looking forward to constructive discussions, which will help them and the Lions too.
Recently the Club presented a cheque to Edwinstowe Scouts. It was lovely to see them turn out for the presentation and they are formulating plans to ensure the money will be spent very wisely.
Although youth is important, the Lions won’t ignore the rest of the community. There is always a good cause and a needy individual who needs a bit of a lift. Club members consider everything, but it is your money so they spend it very carefully.
The money is raised from holding events to fundraise throughout the year, culminating in their annual trip in December with Santa.
The more we can raise the more we can help. This year, they have already planned a Race Night and Quiz Evening, and they will be attending the St George’s Day Celebration in Ollerton in April and Wellow Maypole Day in May. They will be showing off their very plush new gazebo, so go along and see them.
In between times, Lions continue to have fun at their monthly socials and regular meetings, and they invite you to join them there too. They need your help and not just your cash, and meetings are a good place to find out what they do and how they do it. Fresh input and ideas are vital to their success. They are also seeking sponsors from the business community.
